Generali Establishes Syndicate 2031 Red Bridge
Company and Transaction Overview
Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A. (“Generali”) is one of the largest integrated insurance and asset management groups worldwide, with total premium income of €98.1 billion and €900 billion AUM in 2025. Established in 1831, with over 88,000 employees and 163,000 advisors serving 75 million customers, it has a leading position in Europe and a growing presence in Asia and America.
Generali sought to establish its first Lloyd’s syndicate as a long-term strategic platform for accessing diversified sources of third-party capital and strengthening partnerships across the global reinsurance market. The initiative is also intended to deepen Generali’s relationship with Lloyd’s and leverage Lloyd’s global license network, financial strength and market reach.
- Syndicate received in-principle approval to begin underwriting operations on the Lloyd’s platform in 2027.
Syndicate 2031 Red Bridge will assume a share of Generali’s outward reinsurance placements across multiple lines of business, bringing significant continental European risk exposure that complements Lloyd’s traditional global focus.
- Syndicate will participate in a diversified portfolio of Generali’s existing P&C reinsurance cessions, spanning multiple geographies, classes of business and risk types.
Syndicate 2031 Red Bridge was designed to be fully capitalized by third-party capital providers through Funds at Lloyd’s (“FAL”), with Apollo appointed as managing agent.
- Syndicate was well supported by a diversified group of capital providers.
